Pastoral Team Serving Living Word Chapel

John and Chris Sayer

John and Chris Sayer have served as the co-pastors and overseers of Living Word Chapel in Palmer Lake, Colorado since 2002. Together they have been involved with the fellowship-wide youth ministry and participate as members of The Living Word Fellowship's Apostolic Company.

As a child John experienced times of awareness of the Lord's presence. However, it was not until he responded to a chance invitation to a youth-oriented Bible study during Christmas break 1971 that he was led into a salvation experience and an active pursuit of the ways of the Lord.

In February 1972 John first met John Robert Stevens. After a time of seeking and waiting on the Lord for direction, the Lord spoke to John about serving Stevens' ministry. John has become a shepherd after God's own heart to the people he serves because of his relationship with the Lord and John Stevens.

Chris began to seek God as a teenager and at 16 had a salvation experience that was the beginning of a life-long dedication to the Lord. In December 1972 the Lord led Chris to be part of Church of the Living Word in North Hills, California. She spent the following ten years under Stevens' ministry until his passing in 1983. It was an exciting time that was to become the foundation of all that she was to function in later in life.

Chris has served the Lord over the years in different capacities: co-pastor with John, worship leader, youth pastor, accountant, corporate administrator, and tape editor at the Living Word publishing house.

In August of 1975 at a School of Prophets conference in Shiloh, Iowa, John and Chris met for the first time. They were married in January 1976, and together have dedicated their lives to the Lord and the ministries of John Robert Stevens and Gary and Marilyn Hargrave.

Between 1979 and 1989 they were involved with The Living Word Fellowship churches in Anaheim, San Diego, and Los Angeles. In 1989 John and Chris were commissioned as pastors of the Church of the Living Word in Santa Barbara, California and moved there with their two children. It was during this time that a special burden for working with families and young people began to grow. It is a burden that continues to this day. Wherever they serve the Lord, John and Chris express their heart as a father and mother to shepherd the flock of God and see each member from young to old, grow into the ministry and person God has called them to be.
